Day 1 

We arrived in San Salvador Airport, greeted by our driver David which was arranged by our AirBnb. We were really impressed with the updated airport and the drive to El Zonte. The lushness of the winding road leading to our AirBnb and witnessing the everyday life of small market stands was truly a beautiful sight to see. 

Our Airbnb The Esencia Nativa was located in this cute surfer town called El Zonte. It was a quaint small boutique hotel /hostel in front of the beach with a restaurant and walking distance to restaurants and small markets. Our first day there, we just chilled at our Airbnb taking advantage of the beach view and restaurant. We took a stroll at sunset along the beach, but the high tide was coming in pretty strong and we didn’t want to get stuck on the other side of the beach.

* The next day we did find out how to go around the high tide through the neighborhood and make a loop. You can ask a local how to get around instead of trying to walk the shore during high tide.

Day 2 

We had fresh roasted coffee and took a stroll on the beach. El Zonte is located on the Pacific side which makes it perfect for surfing. The whole town is a surfers paradise, and you can take surfing lessons or enjoy watching. After a morning stroll, we headed back to our Airbnb for breakfast. *Side note- breakfast is included and it’s made to order.*

We arranged for David to pick us up around 10 am and drive us to El Tunco which is about 20 min from where we stayed. El Tunco is known to be a party and surfer town  along with artisan shopping and good food. The town is pretty small and you can easily walk the whole town in a few hours. Their bright colored buildings, pupusas stands and the heat really made you feel at home in the tropics. Wear something super light and comfortable because it’s hot and humid. I wore our reversible silk halter top paired with shorts.
